The closest thing to God on earth.

Noel Gallagher @ M.E.N arena 13.02.2012

It honestly was heavenly!  Resembling a dream sequence that only Shakespeare could write. Okay, maybe going a bit too far but it was bloody fantastic. With 36+ on stage it couldn’t have been anything short of amazing. Brass section, choir and about seven changes of guitars. He’s just out done himself, yet again! The album was amazing and the live show was just incredible. There are no words to describe this GODLIKE GENIUS!  It’s not very often that this happens, but I’m stuck for words…

Reverend & the Makers supported. They were alright. Didn’t expect much but they were a decent support act. Noel and his high flying birds were in the limelight and my oh my, they were lapping it up! Stuck to his roots though playing tons of Oasis songs, gave me goose bumps…especially with that choir. Really could not have asked for anything better, even dedicated AKA What a Life to Mario Balotelli. Incredible gig. Noel G on top form!

Noel Gallagher tomorrow @MEN. Review on its way….

the moseley shoals tour.

Ocean Colour Scene at 02 academy, Sheffield. 01.12.11

Tune after tune and a lot more than I bargained for.  Steve Cradock, what a genius. He never ceases to amaze.  Piano, guitar, he’s got it all down to a T. Such a down to earth guy, not showing off like the bass player, who wasn’t even in the band until 2003! Who does he think he is? Giving it all that like he’s the star of the bloody show! It was probably one of the most mature gigs I’ve been to, stood right at the front with heels on, never thought I’d be able to do that.  It was all going smoothly until some idiot decided to throw a pint at Simon! He was not happy at all, I thought he was gonna storm off stage but he trouped through it. What a gig! Day tripper at the end was a very nice surprise and an excellent cover.  They didn’t just play the songs of the album, there was plenty of other classics in there too.  I’d never realised before but Andy Bennett is quite a guy as well. His vocals were on top form for Old Pair Of Jeans… which I’ve had on constant repeat since the gig, a proper gem! I can safely say, I had a bloody excellent night and to top it all off we bumped into the lads after, got a few photos, bit of a chat and a SIGNED SET LIST!

Really loving…

Totally loving The Zombies at the minute. They are so chilled. Cracking music to be writing essays too.  And for some reason I’m picking up a christmas vibe!

The Moons new video for double vision love.

Beady Eye

After waiting outside the tour bus for hours before the gig and only seeing Jeff Wooton, I was pretty gutted before I stepped foot into the 02 BUT I was not disappointed! Well, I was by the support band, The Hippy Mafia. They were kind of like a poor mans Kasabian and the front man was giving it loads of attitude, blatantly trying to be Liam … Trying too hard! They ended up getting boo-ed and pints threw at them (wasn’t me, I didn’t hate them that much). Liam came storming on stage giving it all that saying throw them at him, calling the crowd wankers etc etc. I loved it, perhaps a highlight of the gig because I was expecting this all the way through Beady Eye, but Liam was quite tame. His vocals on the other hand, were so much better than I had expected. All the lads were on top form and it was a belter of a gig!

Noel knows the score.

Now, Noel’s always been my favourite of the Gallagher brothers. He was the brains behind Oasis but Liam’s attitude, stage presence and style made him an excellent front man, perhaps one of the best. So, Liam along with Andy Bell and Gem Archer have succeeded as Beady Eye. The question now arises, can Noel survive on his own?  From what we’ve heard so far I think he’s gonna be doing just fine. The video for the death of you and me was released on Monday and I’ve not stopped listening to it since. The trumpets, oh my god, the trumpets! It’s pure genius. Whereas Beady Eye has that Oasis sound, Noel doesn’t. He’s reinvented himself and hats off to him for that. The video didn’t really tickle my fancy, in all honesty I thought it was a bit pretentious … now that’s something coming from a drama student! I don’t think Noel needs or suits all that arty farty stuff. He’s talented enough to survive without it. On the whole, I’m loving it! Can’t wait for the album and I’ll definitely be spending half my student loan on tickets to see him live!

ocean colour scene @ heaton park.

Well, the day got off to a great start when we found out we were VIP for the event thanks to the legendry Andy Crofts of The Moons. We had to put up with some shit before we got to the good stuff, Ash and Fun Loving Criminals … to name a few. But the time came for Steve Craddock to get on it and boy did he!  I’d never heard his solo stuff before but he’s a right little gem int he.  Andy Crofts standing in on bass, as excellent as always too. But the one everyone was waiting for, Ocean Colour Scene… I was very surprised by them actually. Lets be fair, they’re cracking on a bit aren’t they, but bloody hell they’re still going for it. Steve Craddock’s a right one on guitar, was rather impressed.  Everyone loved ‘um and they day went down a treat. Tunes, sunshine, free ice cream and a few quiet beers … couldn’t have been much better. Ben and Jerry’s ice cream sundae was a belter!
